For this project we converted a garage into an additional bedroom. The original garage had a generic garage door with springs and an opener attached to the ceiling. We wanted to create a warmer and more elegant solution and created a custom barn style garage door made of wood that ended up looking fantastic.
We also added a sliding door on the opposite side that lead into a small patio area. The garage floor was a concrete slab and still in good shape. We decided to clean and stain the concrete slap to give this additional bedroom a modern but warm look. Combined with a beautiful persian rug, the floor ended up looking fantastic.
Below are some images made during the process of building this bedroom ADU. The additional bedroom ended up being extremely well insulated – an important feature not just for energy savings but also comfort.
